Rules for Library Use

CENTRAL LIBRARY TABLE RESERVATION SYSTEM RULES

 

Reservation is mandatory for the use of the chairs in the halls of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Prof. Dr. Durmuş Günay Library.

The reservation of the chairs in the halls of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Prof. Dr. Durmuş Günay Library can only be made by academic staff, administrative staff and students of our university.

For the reservation of the chairs in the halls of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Prof. Dr. Durmuş Günay Library, first of all, our users who belong to our university must have user information on the “Library automation system” and their membership must be “active”.

Reservation dates are limited to 2 days (the current day and the next day) for group study halls and tables.

Group Study Rooms can be reserved for 2 hours and Chairs for 4 hours.

The user has the right to reserve the Group Study Rooms at most 1 time and the Chairs at most 2 times during the day. The user whose reservation has expired can make a new reservation after checking out from the library turnstiles.

No new reservation can be made before the reservation expires.

Reservations made by the user during the day cannot be made for more than one time zone at the same time. New reservations can be made after the end of the first reservation process.

Reservation system for chairs is secure.

 

BREAK TAKE

 

“BREAK TIME” is limited to 90 minutes.

For the use of 90 minutes, the QR code in the “My Mobile Library” application or the Turkish ID Card will be used to exit the break via the “BREAK EXIT DEVICES” located next to the library exit turnstiles.

If the user does not check out via the break exit devices, the reservation is automatically canceled through the system.

The user can use the 90minute break time at once or in separate time periods for each new reservation. At the end of each break period, the break period ends when the user enters the library through the QR Code readers on the turnstiles.

The user who has made a reservation but has not confirmed the reservation cannot make a reservation on that day.

The user can cancel his/her reservation via “My Mobile Library” or the web page before the reservation period starts.

No changes should be made to the arrangement of tables, chairs and other materials.

Technical failures and malfunctions should not be intervened in any way and the library staff should be notified.

When the reservation period ends, you must collect your personal belongings and leave the table available for the next user. Users who do not leave the tables in a proper and clean condition will have their reservation rights suspended for 7 days.

When the reservation period expires, it is absolutely necessary to check out from the QR Code readers on the turnstiles. Otherwise, re-booking is not possible.

Otherwise, the reservation cannot be made again.

Users who do not comply with the library rules are obliged to take into account the warnings of the library staff. Users who do not comply with the rules will have their reservation rights suspended for 7 days.

The user is responsible for the personal belongings on the tables and chairs. Our library is not responsible for lost personal belongings.

Graduate users will benefit from the study halls offered by our university instead of our library.

Cleaning is carried out every weekday between 08.00 - 10.00 for the efficient use of our library and cleaning and disinfection processes.

 

LIBRARY RULES

 

Using the library

 

  1. a) Faculty members, staff and students of the University can benefit from the library within the principles specified in the regulation,
  2. b) As a requirement of inter-university cooperation, the University Library is open to lecturers and researchers of other universities. However, they benefit from the library under the responsibility of the Library and Documentation Department of the institution to which they are affiliated.
  3. c) External readers may be provided with the opportunity to use the library, but may not borrow books.
  4. d) MezunKart is a card specially prepared for Bülent Ecevit University graduates. AlumniKart does not carry an identity card feature, but it is an ID card for the graduates of Bülent Ecevit University. AlumniCard holders can benefit from Prof. Dr. Teoman Duralı study halls in Prof. Dr. Durmuş Günay Library due to the high number of students.

 

Loss of the Right to Use the Library

 

A user who does not comply with the rules specified in this regulation, prevents library staff from performing their duties, disrupts the discipline and silence in the library, takes materials out of the library without permission, attempts to do so, or damages the materials in the library may be removed from the right to use the library. Disciplinary regulations may also apply.

 

Membership Conditions

 

  1. a) Academic and administrative staff and students registered to our University can become members of the library.
  2. b) Members agree to abide by the library rules.
  3. c) Readers from outside the University can use library resources, but they cannot be members.

 

Book Borrowing Conditions

 

  1. a) Faculty members can borrow a maximum of 7 (seven) books at a time; master's/doctoral students can borrow 5 (five) books; staff and students can borrow 3 (three) books.
  2. b) Books can be lent for 1 (one) month.
  3. c) Readers cannot borrow new books and other materials unless they return the borrowed material at the end of the lending period. If the material is returned and the overdue penalty is paid, they can be lent books again.
  4. d) The period of the borrowed material can be extended twice for additional periods equal to the lending period if there are no other applicants.
  5. e) When necessary, the Department may request the materials back from the readers before the lending period expires.
  6. f) Books held by other readers can be reserved. If the reserved books are not purchased within 3 (three) days after the announcement, the reserve will be canceled.
  7. g) Books cannot be borrowed with someone else's BEUN ID card.
  8. h) When necessary, the Head of the Department may redetermine the lending periods and the number of materials that can be lent in general.

Books and Materials Not to be Lent

  1. a) Reference works (dictionary, encyclopedia, index, etc.)
  2. b) Unpublished graduate theses,
  3. c) Manuscripts and rare printed works,
  4. d) Atlas, maps and slides,
  5. e) Reserved books,
  6. f) Materials that are determined by the Head of the Department upon the recommendations of the affiliated library units and that cannot be taken out of the library,
  7. g) Music notes
  8. h) Collectibles, artistic materials. Readers may use such materials only in the library and, if necessary, under the supervision of a staff member.

 

Books and Other Materials Not Returned on Time

 

  1. a) The person who does not return the borrowed books and other materials at the end of the lending period at the latest or does not extend the lending period shall be fined for each day that passes from the day following the end of the period without the need for any further action.
  2. b) The amount of the daily fine to be applied during the year is determined by the Rector upon the recommendation of the Head of the Department every year.

This amount is notified to the users verbally and in warning letters by the lending service.

  1. c) A person to whom a late penalty has been imposed will not be allowed to borrow any other book or material unless he/she returns the borrowed material and pays the full amount of the accrued late penalty.
  2. d) If the number of days for which a late fee is imposed exceeds 30 (thirty) days and the book or material is not returned at the end of this period, the book or material is considered lost.
  3. e) For books found in the possession of staff or students who are dismissed from the University against their will, it is treated as if they were “lost through no fault of the library staff”.

 

Tearing or Loss of Borrowed Books and Materials

 

In case the borrowed material is worn out or lost;

  1. a) For the lost material, the user submits a petition regarding the situation to the Department. The user shall provide the material within one month from the date of the petition, if any. In addition, the delay penalty, if any, is suspended as of this date.
  2. b) The library material that is considered lost or lost because it is not returned despite the warning is firstly obtained from the market.
  3. c) If this is not possible, the value of the material determined by the Value Appraisal Commission shall be doubled. In addition, the accrued delay penalty is charged.
  4. d) The amount to be collected due to the loss of the material will be registered to the Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University.
  5. e) Readers who do not comply with the warning are subject to the provisions of the relevant disciplinary regulation along with the payment of material costs and fines.
  6. f) Other transactions related to deregistration are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the “Regulation on Movable Goods”.

Dismissal from the Library

 

University staff and students are required to obtain a document stating that they have no relationship with the library before leaving the institution. At the beginning of each academic year, the library lending service sends the list of students who are not affiliated with the library to the student affairs office of the unit to which the students are affiliated. Unless these students submit the document stating that they are not affiliated with the library to the student affairs office, their registrations will not be renewed, and they will not be given University ID cards, transfer and dismissal documents. These procedures are carried out under the coordination of the Head of the Department with the cooperation of the Student Affairs Department and the Personnel Department.

 

General Rules to be followed in the Library

 

a.) All library users must strictly observe the rule of silence in common study and research areas.

b.) In order to maintain clean and well-maintained study areas, it is forbidden to enter the library with food products or beverages (except water).

c.) Do not leave valuables in an uncontrolled manner. The library is not responsible for the loss or theft of your personal belongings in the library.

d.) Personal belongings should not be left on the study tables for the purpose of reserving space. For more than 45 minutes, items left unoccupied will be removed by the staff.

e.) Leave the books you take from the shelves on the tables, do not try to place them on the shelf. Do not take out any library material that has not been borrowed, otherwise it will be treated as stolen. The exit of the library is connected to the library security system, the staff has the authority to check bags etc. in case the system warns.

f.) Users are responsible for all web addresses and computers they enter while using the internet in the library.

g.) Smoking is prohibited in the non-smoking areas inside the library or in front of the building.

  1. e) Since the library is cleaned every morning, all materials on tables and chairs can be removed by the staff.
