- OFF-CAMPUS ACCESS WITH PROXY SERVICE
Our Web Caching service has been established to enable students and academicians to use the electronic journals and databases to which our university is a member from outside the campus network.
In order to use our proxy service efficiently, it should be used only for electronic journals and databases. The use of the proxy service is recorded and necessary actions will be taken in case of misuse.
How to use it?
You can use our service by entering proxy.beun.edu.tr for the server and 8080 for the port number in the proxy server settings of your browser. When you use the service, you can browse the pages by entering your e-mail username (staff / student e-mail address) and your e-mail password for the password on the screen asking for username and password.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT USING PROXY:
- After you are done, you can turn off the proxy settings in the same way. If you do not turn it off, browsers will ask for a username and password to be included in the internal network every time you enter.
- If you do not have an e-mail account defined in our systems, you cannot use the proxy service. If you do not have an e-mail username and password, you can register via https://portal.beun.edu.tr
- You cannot use the proxy service if you have any of the special VPN programs or DNS defined on your computer or phone.

Settings Tab at the Top Right (Three Dots Bottom to Bottom) (1) - System Menu on the Left (2) - Open your computer's proxy settings Tab (3) - Manual Main Server Setup - Turn the Use Intermediate Server Notch On (4) - Type the Address and Port (proxy. beun.edu.tr - 8080 (5) - Click Save and when you close all open windows of the browser and open it again, it will ask for username and password. Enter your e-mail address with the @beun.edu.tr extension in the Username field and your password in the Password field to complete the process of joining the network.
iPad/iPhone Installation Settings
Open the main screen of your iPad or iPhone.
Tap Settings from the main menu.
Select Wi-Fi from the list, then find the network you are connected to and tap the “i” icon.
Tap Manually in the HTTP Proxy field.
Enter proxy.beun.edu.tr in the Server box, 8080 in the Door box,
Activate the Authentication option.
Use “e-mail and password” as username and password for access.
- OFF-CAMPUS ACCESS WITH THE CORPORATE IDENTITY FEDERATION YETKIM
An identity federation called YETKIM has been established for Turkey's higher education and research institutions under the name of ULAKNET, the National Academic Network. Users do not need to connect directly or remotely to the institutional network with a corporate network, proxy or similar software in order to access the databases defined in this corporate identity system.
Users can connect to the databases defined to YETKİM via any computer connected to the internet.

IMPORTANT REMINDER:
1-Institutional username login is done with the username and password in your ZBEU e-mail account. The username must be written without the extension “@beun.edu.tr”.
2-ZBEU's institutional names defined in YETKIM are commonly; Turkish, “Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University”, English “Zonguldak Bulent Ecevit University”. These names should be taken as reference when scanning the institution name.
